Pretty Plaid

Shirt (Old Navy); Skit (gifted by eShakti); Shoes (Nine West); Necklace (H&M)
Nicole Lai Photography

There was a time when I wouldn't touch a plaid shirt. I severely overused and abused them from age 12 to 14 during the lovely grunge era of the 90's.  Long gone is the Paul Bunyan plaid, and these softer colors make wearing plaid more feminine and girly.  Thankfully also long gone are those awkward middle school years where my fashion choices included my dad's oversized flannels, corduroy pants, converse sneakers, and a hair scunchie...  because my braces and glasses weren't awkward enough ;)

I LOVE this look heather! I was the same way with plaid for a while, I thought it was too Paul Bunyan, but not anymore! Did u get the gold sweater?

Love this pairing! The plaid helps to make your lovely skirt more casual, great way to reinvent a skirt :)

The 90s grunge look was one of the main things that deterred me from plaid originally as well. I felt like a 9th grade loser again. However, you look amazing. I love that eShakti skirt. I think I'm gonna have to break down and buy something from them!

Oh I do not miss those awkward middle school years one bit! And I agree, plaid is definitely making a big reappearance in my wardrobe!

I love plaid! It is my favorite pattern of all time. I do not have a cute plaid shirt like this one though! Might have to remedy that at some point!

You've definitely grown out of those awkward middle school years! This outfit is adorable! I know how you felt with the glasses and braces....and over-sized polos (no idea what I was thinking!). But, I'll gladly take a girly plaid and colored corduroy pants any day now!
