Faux Flower

Dress (Dockers find, Marshalls); Shoes (Jessica Simpson find, Marshalls);
Belt (Target); Faux Flower (H&M); Earrings (Limited)
Ryan Seidel Photography

Do you ever wake up in the morning with a strong urge to put a fake flower in your hair?  That is how this day started :)  I thought the flower was the perfect accent to my 50's silhouette school teacher inspired look.  This dress always makes me feel like I should be addressing a classroom of young kids...  I think everyone at some point thinks about becoming a school teacher. The selling points for me included summers off and getting to write on the chalkboard all the time.  But then I got older, and now I see kids running around like wild animals and think... God bless teachers - I could never do it!

On another note, a few of you have asked how I get my bun so full (the secret is a comb and hairspray).  Just put your hair in a ponytail... then tease the heck of out it, next smooth the top layer and wrap it into a bun securing it with bobby pins.  No sock necessary :)

Very cute and ladylike... love the nude wedges and the praise worthy perfect bun! I love a sock bun but a "messy" updo works as well....

So funny, I was playing dress up last night with a headband that I have that has a detachable flower, which I was pinning every which way to my hair, clothes, everything! Love this sophisticated 50's ish look on you, and love the bun and flower in your hair.

What a perfectly polished look...love the subtle print of the dress. Oddly enough, I've never really cared for wedges but these are so delightful I'm having to reconsider; just push me out of my rut! =)

That dress is so so so cute! You must have a really good Marshall's because I never find stuff like that at the one here. I had to grin when I read about being a teacher. I did want to be a teacher, but quickly changed my mind when I found out I wouldn't get to choose what grade I wanted to teach.

Such a great outfit! I love wearing pretty accessories in my hair, it's fun to make flowers out of fabric to coordinate with outfits! I've never incorporated a flower into a bun that way, it looks great, so I'll have to try it for myself!

If I ever style my own hair that well, I'll die of shock. hehe, such a pretty, polished look!

Elana said...

So pretty! I love the 50's silhouette, how can you not feel amazing in that? And you really do put your hair in the best buns :)

renae said...

ok -- question: I don't see the faux flower. Is it at the top of your bun? ok -- statement: I couldn't be a teacher either. I was a tutor last year and didn't go back. yay! It wasn't for me.
ok -- fact: you are so pretty!
