This year, my summer must have is patterned shorts.  They are fun, playful and can easily be dressed up or down... I'm playing it casual in this black and white pair - but with a sequin top and black blazer, these shorts easily transition to party ready.  And there are a ton of fun options at great prices (here are a few of my favorites from Loft, Old Navy and Gap).  Give your denim and khaki shorts a break this summer and find out for yourself if patterned shorts really do have more fun ;)

Shorts with tights is such a fun way to winterize a summer staple. Plus, you can't help but feel a little rock and roll! Even if you aren't a fan of your legs, this style still works with the right tights and length of shorts. When my Dad and brother saw me in this outfit, I'm pretty sure they thought I was insane (I recall one of them saying, what are you wearing?), but most of the time guys just don't get it (fashion or otherwise)... It's a good thing I dress for myself and not for da boys :)

Have you heard the phrase, "The higher the hair, the closer to God"?   Replace the "hair" with "heel" and I completely agree! As long as that higher heel is a wedge....which keeps the odds of avoiding a broken ankle in my favor. My outfit is dominated by fabulous Tarjay (yes the fancy Target) finds - and they are everywhere!  From shoes, to jewelry, to doggy Halloween costumes (oh just wait!!!) - Target has it all...
