Girly in Gray

Dress (Kohls); Shirt (Gap); Belt (from another dress); Shoes (Nine West)
Dave Haas Photography

I've always been less than fond of the "blue for boys" and "pink for girls" separation.  And I don't love the fact that sports gear for women is light pink... why can't we have team colors like the boys?  And just because I'm a girl doesn't automatically mean I want the pink pie piece in Trivia Pursuit.  Maybe I'm taking this color divide a bit far... it's strange the topics that can make me emotionally overreact.  It must be the "pink" in me ;)

Heather, you look absolutely polished and delicate in that flower printed dress. Love the more muted colour palette on that dress, perfect for this season.
I am with you when it comes to the colour equality. Also I love PINK hahahaha ;-)

Perfectly styled dear, I love those booties with the dress. I agree, pink doesn't have to be just for girls. My mum is always buying my girls clothing from the boys section haha.

I agree - I think the Twins shirts in all pink are kind of less cute than a Twins shirt in actual Twins colors!
Just an example anyway!

I love that dress! Beautiful!

Love the shirt under that dress. It transitions the dress to fall and gives it such a different look that a cardigan. Cute as usual! I HATE team shirts in pink. Drives me crazy too! I just want to wear a cute shirt in the team colors, not a super tight pink shirt. Ugh!

Love that dress on you! And I totally get the color divide thing - I like some pink for sure, but I hardly wear it! I prefer the more jewel toned greens and blues over pink any day.

Super pretty dress, and my 5-year-old is super strict with colors. I can't like gray because it's "not a real color". I can't like blue or green or red or orange because they are "boy colors". He kills me!

I cannot stand the pink sports jerseys for women!! The pattern on that dress is fabulous and I love how you styled the tradition silhouette with the booties!

I don't have a kohl's near my place but if I did, I'd certainly go in and check it out! I love this dress, and I agree, I am so sick of pink and blue for babies.

Thrifted Shift said...

I agree- all colors are for everyone! I'm definitely not a pink girly girl! A boy in my class got teased until he cried about a tiny tiny bit of pink trim on his expensive shoes. Ridiculous! I was furious!

Unknown said...

Love that dress! Its grey but still not grey!
Yeah even I dont like the pink for girls and blue for boys! My girl likes blue and thats her fav color.. its hard to find blue girly stuff! In India people dont follow that but they are slowly catching up :(

What a pretty gray dress! I've always been the girl that does want the pink piece in trivial pursuit, but I know what you mean, we should have just as many options as the boys :) And I happen to think a man who can pull off pink looks good!

Anonymous said...

This is a great outfit and your peeptoe booties are the perfect compliment. I agree with you about the great pink and blue debate, just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I want everything to be pink or pastel.

This dress is so cute! I love how you layered it with the blouse underneath! The gender-color divide always drives me nuts too! With everything from golf bags to wet suits...just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer black or blue!

Thanks for your sweet comments!

History is fascinating. Gender based colors have not been in vogue for that long. We just grew up with the practice so we take it for granted.

You look SO pretty is such a feminine and delicate dress, Heather! I love how polished it looks with that white shirt underneath! I think gender division based on color is a bit overrated, in mi opinion we all should be experimenting with all shades of colors and wear those that totally make you feel your best!
